Box Score SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Yotes earned their first win of the 2022 campaign on Saturday morning, defeating Fresno Pacific by a score of 2-0 to improve to 1-1 on the season.
In the first half, the Yotes kept FPU scoreless on six shots, two of which were saved by senior goalkeeper

Sarah Mahfoud found the back of the net to give the Yotes a 1-0 lead. The goal was originally ruled an own goal against FPU, as it deflected off a sliding defender. But after a review, it was decided that Mahfoud would be credited with the goal - her second of the season.
In the 85
th minute of the game, sophomore
Katherine Walker scored the first goal of her career on a free kick that just escaped the keeper's hands. This put the Yotes up 2-0, a score they would hang on to for the final five minutes. Luna kept the Sunbirds scoreless after recording four saves, earning her first shutout of the season and the eighth of her career.
The Yotes' next match will be against Arizona Christian on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 11:30 AM at Premier Field.
