SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB men's soccer team fell to Stanislaus State in the CCAA Opener on Friday afternoon by a score of 3-0. With their first loss of the season, the Yotes fall to 4-1-2 with a 0-1 record in conference play.
Despite falling short against the Warriors, CSUSB still holds the fourth-best overall win percentage in the CCAA conference at .714, behind three nationally ranked teams in #1 Cal Sate Los Angeles (1.000), #7 Cal State Dominguez Hills (.929), and #13 Cal Poly Pomona (.786).
Stanislaus State jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with goals in the 8
th and 13
th minutes, both scored by Josh Santillan. The Yotes were able to hold off the Warrior offense for the remainder of the first half, but allowed the third and final goal to sneak by in the 63
rd minute.
This is the first time this season that reigning CCAA Defender of the Week,
Aiden Hanes, has allowed more than one goal in a game, having allowed just two total goals in his first five games. The Yotes had multiple opportunities to score, firing off five shots in the first half and four in the second. But with only two of those shots being on goal, the Yotes were unable to convert those opportunities.
