SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB men's soccer team defeated Cal State San Marcos in their final non-conference game of the regular season by a score of 1-0. With the win, the Yotes improve to 4-0-2 and finish their non-conference schedule without a loss.
The Yotes captured their third 1-0 win of the season, with the lone goal coming in the 73
rd minute. After receiving a pass from
Nicklaus Sullivan,
Michael Maldonado scored his first goal of the season to give the Yotes the lead late in the game.
The Coyote defense shut down the Cougar offense the entire game, allowing four total shots with only one on goal. Goalkeepers
John Samano and
Mark Gamez split the game in net, each taking a half. With only one shot on goal, saved by Samano, the Yotes claimed their fourth shutout of the season.
After receiving votes in last week's
Top 25 poll, the Yotes hope their 2-0-1 performance this week earns them national recognition in the new poll this coming Tuesday.
