CHICO, Calif. – After falling to the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos in game one, the Yotes were moved to the elimination bracket. They played their elimination game at 7 p.m. against Cal St. Monterey Bay and defeated the Otters to advance in the CCAA Championship Tournament.
In game one the Yotes faced Cal Poly Pomona at 3 p.m. The lead pitcher for the Yotes was
Austyn Coleman who pitched four innings for 85 pitches collecting one strikeout. Gio Del Negro led CSUSB in hits as he connected on two hits and had one RBI on the game. The Yotes collected seven hits, four RBIs, and 12 assists. CSUSB fell in game one to the Broncos, 16-5.
The Yotes then faced Cal St. Monterey Bay in their elimination game at 7 p.m. CSUSB was first to get on the scoreboard with two runs in the first inning. Lead pitcher for the Yotes was
Nate Mendoza who pitched four innings throwing 106 pitches collecting five strikeouts. The biggest hit of the game was in the seventh inning with the score tied when
Riley Parker hit a double for a two RBI. This gave CSUSB the lead that they expanded on. In the last inning,
Oscar Rauda took the mound to close the game and earned is eight save on the season. Yotes downed the Otters, 6-3.
With this win, CSUSB continues their playoff run and will play either Cal. St. Dominguez Hills or get a rematch against Cal Poly Pomona. The Yotes are set to play at 7 p.m.
