SEASIDE, Calif. – The Yotes played a doubleheader in Seaside for the second day of their series against the Cal St. Monterey Bay Otters. Game one was a hitting clinic for CSUSB as they collected several home runs in their win against the Otters before falling in the second game. The Yotes stand 1-2 against Cal St. Monterey Bay heading into the last game of the series.
The lead pitcher in game one was
Austyn Coleman who pitched five innings for 102 pitches collecting five strikeouts and four earned runs. Coleman now stands with a record of five wins and three loses on the season.
Jake Borst ignited the momentum for the Yotes as he hit his first home run on his first at bat of the game in the first inning for a single RBI.
Daryl Ruiz connected for a home run in the fourth inning before Borst collected his second home run of the game in the fifth inning.
Riley Parker then connected for his second homerun of the series in the sixth inning. The Yotes collected 12 hits, 15 RBIs, and 12 assists on the game. CSUSB sealed a game one victory against the Otters, 17-6.
In the second game of the doubleheader,
Luke Hempel took the mound for two innings and 40 pitches collecting three strikeouts and two earned runs.
Myles Rothfarb closed the game on the mound for two innings, 37 pitches, and two strikeouts. The biggest hit of the game was by
Kyle Csakan who homered to left center for a two RBI. The Otters won the second game, 14-2.
CSUSB will close the series with one last game against Cal St. Monterey Bay tomorrow Sunday, April 24
