TURLOCK, Calif. – The Yotes split their first day of competition at the Tournament of Champions hosted by Stanislaus State in Turlock. CSUSB won their first game against Montana State University Billings before falling to University of Hawaii, Hilo.
In game one the leading pitcher for the Yotes was
Natalie Carlos who pitched for three innings collecting one strike out. Brooklyn Blackman also pitched three innings collecting three strike outs.
Alyssa Beck connected for the biggest hit on the game in the fourth inning for a two RBI. CSUSB collected 10 hits, five assists, and five RBIs on the game, taking their first win of the tournament against Montana State University Billings, 6-1.
The second game for the Yotes was against the University of Hawaii Hilo, Vulcans. Lead pitcher for CSUSB was Brooklyn Blackman who pitched for four innings collecting seven strikeouts.
Alyssa Beck and
Alyssa Martinez both collected two RBIs on the game. The Yotes connected for eight hits, five assists, and five RBIs. The Vulcans were able to take a two-run lead in the sixth inning and win the game, 7-5.
CSUSB continues their competition in the Tournament of Champions with another doubleheader tomorrow in Turlock. Their first game is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. against Chaminade University and their second game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. against Northwest Nazarene University.
