CARSON, Calif. – The No. 3 Yotes traveled to Carson to take on No. 4 Cal State Dominguez Hills. Heading into the game CSUSB stood at a record of 18-13, 14-7 CCAA and the Toros held a record of 17-10, 12-5 CCAA. The Yotes took the lead at the jump, but Cal St. Dominguez Hills slowly worked their way back, taking the walk off victory, 8-7.
Lead pitcher for the Yotes was
Jackson Gilmore who has an ERA of 1.77 on the season. Gilmore threw 91 pitches, striking out two Toros.
Giovanni Del Negro hit the sole homerun of the game in the fifth inning for a two RBI.
Leading the Yotes in hits was
Daryl Ruiz who connected on three hits, one of which was a double.
Riley Parker and Del Negro both collected two hits and two RBIs on the game. CSUSB connected for 11 hits, 10 assists, and six RBIs.
Coming off a sweep of Cal St. Los Angeles in the previous week, the first time since 2013 a team had been shutout, the Yotes lead for the first seven innings of the game. A three run seventh inning for the Toros brought the score even at 7-7 going into the ninth inning. Cal St. Dominguez Hills won the first game of the series, 8-7.
