SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – A collective team effort by the Yotes led to a series clenching day for CSUSB. With the combination of amazing catches, on point pitching, and powerhouse hitting that the Yotes are known for, CSUSB won both games to clinch the series against the Cal St. LA Eagles.
In his first pitching start of the season,
Austyn Coleman threw a complete game with seven strikeouts and allowed only two runs on the game (one earned). The Yotes collected 10 hits and 11 assists on the game.
Daryl Ruiz and
Kyle Csakan hit home runs in the second inning, continuing the Yotes domination at bat as the team has a collective.299 average in hitting. With both Coleman's pitching and CSUSB's performance at bat, the Yotes won the first game, 7-2.
The second game leading pitcher for the Yotes was
Andres Quinones who pitched for five innings collecting five strikeouts on 56 pitches. CSUSB has collected seven hits for four RBI's on the game. Leading in hits for the Yotes was
Deshawn Johnson who connected on three hits for a double and one RBI. The biggest hit of the game was by
Giovanni Del Negro who hit a double in the bottom of the seventh for a two RBI to win the game and clinch the series, 5-4.

Mike Nadeau. "Walk-off wins are always fun. It keeps the culture strong. Both Csakan and Del Negro have big hits for the win. Austyn and Andres pitched lights out for us today. We got one more to go tomorrow."
CSUSB is scheduled to play their next game on Sunday, March 27
