SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Yotes were leading the heading into the final match up against the Cal St. Los Angeles Eagles, 3-0. CSUSB was down by one in the seventh inning when
Riley Parker hit a grand slam to take put the Yotes on top, leading to the sweep of Cal St. Los Angeles, 4-0.
Starting on the mound for the Yotes was
Raul Salazar who pitched six innings collecting six strike outs of 105 pitches. He has now strung together four quality starts in a row, compiling a 2.48 ERA in that span. On offense,
Jake Borst put CSUSB on the scoreboard with a home run in the bottom of the first inning, his seventh of the year. CSULA, despite coming up short, showed its offensive prowess by accumulating seven hits in the first two-plus innings, and eventually taking a 3-1 lead.
The Golden Eagles rank 3
rd in the CCAA with a .294 batting average. After tying the game in the 5
th with a Borst score after a double play with no outs, CSULA retook the lead in the top of the 7
th. The bottom of the 7
th was the key half-inning of the game when Parker hit a grand slam to left field taking the lead, 7-4. CSULA were not able to capitalize in the final two innings, as
Nate Mendoza and
Oscar Rauda each threw a scoreless inning. An RBI single by Gio Del Negro which scored
Isaiah Cortez was the game's final run.
The last time the Yotes swept an opponent was in 2013 when CSUSB shutout Stanislaus State in the very last series of the season.

At 18-12 and 14-6 in CCAA play, CSUSB currently ranks 3
rd in the CCAA standings. The Yotes have a tough matchup next week when they take on Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros in Carson next weekend. Dominguez Hills is 16-10 and 11-5 in the CCAA.
