The CSUSB men's golf team has picked up momentum the last two weeks with a pair of second place finishes at the NNU Poppy Ridge Invitational and Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout events.
 
At the NNU event the Yotes trailed only Cal State East Bay by four shots.  Brien Nielsen led the way with a third-place finish and David Marris joined him in the top-10 in ninth.  Mark Williams was right behind in 12^th place.  Nielsen was even on the tournament, Marris was +2, and Williams was +3.
 
At the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, the Yotes were just six shots back from Cal State Monterey Bay.  Nielsen finished second at seven-under, Williams was seventh at six-under, and Marris was seventh at six-under.
 
As a result Nielsen comes away with back-to-back top-five finishes and Marris recorded back-to-back top-10 finishes.
 
CSUSB will look to continue to stake their claim in the West Region on March 28 and 29 at the Harry Stanislaus Invitational in Turlock.
