VISTA, Calif. - The Yotes competed in the two-day CSUSM Fujikura Invitational in Vista. At the end of the first day, CSUSB was standing in fifth place. The close of the second day the Yotes secured a sixth-place finish at the invitational with a total score of 895, 31 points behind first place.
Leading the pack was
David Marris who scored a five-over par. Marris hit on-par for his first two rounds on the 72-par course. His last round he shot 5-over par for a total tournament score of 221, landing him a 20
th place finish.
Randy Vergel De Dios scored two swings behind Marris for a seven-over par on the course. His first day of the tournament he shot three-over par and his last two rounds he shot two-over par for a total score of 223.
Mark Williams shot an 11-over par on the course. Williams first round was a one-over, his second round on par and his last round a 10-over par.
"The Coyotes played very well on day one of the event at San Marcos" said coach Kyle Emerson. "We had strong performances by Randy Vergel De Dios, Mark Williams and David Marris. We did not play as well on day two and were hampered by some balky putters. San Marcos always puts on a great event at Shadowridge Golf Club and its one that we look forward to every year. We have some work to do and more rust to knock off before our next event, but we will be ready to go when its time. We are up to the challenge."
The Yotes next tournament is scheduled to be from March 6th-8th at the NNU Poppy Ridge Invitational in Livermore.
