Dufresne Records Double-Double in Close Battle With the Pioneers

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB women's basketball team fell to Cal State East Bay in a tight matchup on Friday night, losing by a score of 51-50 to move to 6-4 on the season.

The Yotes controlled the tempo for the entire first half, outscoring the Pioneers 30-21. However, CSUEB put together an impressive 13-4 run in the first eight minutes of the third quarter, tying the game up at 34-34. Both teams struggled to land their shots throughout the game, neither finishing with a field goal percentage or three-point percentage above 30 percent. The Yotes tried to get some separation late in the game, but some missed scoring opportunities allowed the Pioneers to stay within reach.

With 2:44 on the clock in the 4th quarter, the game became tied at 50-50. Surprisingly, neither team was able to find the basket, combining for eight missed shots in the final two minutes. A critical foul in the final second sent CSUEB to the line, where they would subsequently make a free throw to secure the 51-50 win.

The Yotes featured a balanced attack on offense, with five players making nearly equal contributions to the scoring. CSUSB's leading scorer Destiny Jackson and Mia Dufresne each scored 10 points, while Samantha Henley and Gabby Stoll scored eight. Nina Wallace was close behind with seven of her own, her second highest performance of the season. The offense was highlighted by Mia Dufresne, who tied a career-high with 13 rebounds to earn her first double-double of the season.
