SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB women's basketball team fell to Cal State East Bay in a tight matchup on Friday night, losing by a score of 51-50 to move to 6-4 on the season.
Â
The Yotes controlled the tempo for the entire first half, outscoring the Pioneers 30-21. However, CSUEB put together an impressive 13-4 run in the first eight minutes of the third quarter, tying the game up at 34-34. Both teams struggled to land their shots throughout the game, neither finishing with a field goal percentage or three-point percentage above 30 percent. The Yotes tried to get some separation late in the game, but some missed scoring opportunities allowed the Pioneers to stay within reach.
Â
With 2:44 on the clock in the 4th quarter, the game became tied at 50-50. Surprisingly, neither team was able to find the basket, combining for eight missed shots in the final two minutes. A critical foul in the final second sent CSUEB to the line, where they would subsequently make a free throw to secure the 51-50 win.
