SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB women's volleyball team defeated Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday night, winning three sets to one to improve to 19-5 on the season. The No. 15 Yotes now hold a 13-4 record in conference play, staying tied with Cal Poly Pomona for second place in the CCAA standings.
CSUSB and CSUMB faced off earlier this season on September 10
th in a close match that ended with the Otters claiming the victory in five sets. Before that loss, the Yotes were previously undefeated against the Otters, carrying a 32-match win streak dating back to September 1, 2001. With the win on Friday, the Yotes now hold a 33-1 record all-time against CSUMB.
The Yotes got their revenge from the loss earlier in the year, winning the first, third, and fourth sets by scores of 25-18, 25-11, and 25-20. The team collected a hitting percentage of .281 to Monterey Bay's .149, while also swinging above .300 in all but one set.
Ashley Robinson and
Savannah Hoffman both recorded double-digit kills, collecting 13 and 11 respectively. In addition, Robinson,
Jenna Patton, and
Lydia Morohunfola teamed up for all 14 of the Yotes' blocks in the match.
