SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB women's basketball team fell to No. 21 Azusa Pacific on Saturday afternoon, losing by a score of 69-59. With the loss, the Yotes finish opening weekend with a 1-1 record while Azusa Pacific also moves to 1-1.
The Cougars came out strong, scoring 26 points in the first quarter to the Yotes' 15. At the end of the first half, APU led 34-22. Despite outscoring the Cougars 37-35 in the second half, the Yotes were unable to get enough separation to make a comeback.
Destiny Jackson,
Samantha Henley, and
Nina Wallace led the way for the Yotes' offense, combining for 35 of the team's 59 points and each scoring double-digits. Henley shot well beyond the arc going 3-for-8, while also recording two steals and a block.
Forwards
Mia Dufresne and
Mia Finnie both led the team with five rebounds and a combined three blocks in the game.
