SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The CSUSB women's volleyball team fell to No. 23 Cal Poly Pomona on Friday afternoon, losing three sets to one.
For the first time since the CCAA introduced the conference volleyball tournament in 2015, the Yotes will not be competing in the championship match. In 2015, the Yotes fell short to Sonoma State in the championship, losing three sets to two. Every single tournament since then (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021), the Yotes have taken home the hardware – totaling
five consecutive CCAA Championships.
Unfortunately for the Yotes, they ran into a nationally ranked opponent in No. 23 Cal Poly Pomona on Friday afternoon. The Broncos had won four straight heading into the match, including a quarterfinal win over Stanislaus State to advance to the semifinals.
All-CCAA First Team selection
Ashley Robinson led the Yotes with 15 kills while also recording 11 digs.
Savannah Hoffman recorded her fourth consecutive game with 10 or more kills, bringing her total to 234 on the season. All-CCAA Second Team selection
Marlee Nunley also gathered 39 assists in the match.
