LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The CSUSB men's soccer team tied with No. 12 Cal State Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon, finishing with a final score of 2-2. The Yotes pulled out their second tie of the week against a nationally-ranked opponent, after also tying No. 10 Cal Poly Pomona 1-1 on Thursday at Premier Field. With the tie, CSUSB now holds a 4-3-5 record on the season - good for a .542 win percentage.
The Golden Eagles got on the board first with a goal in the 28
th minute to make the score 1-0. But that lead wouldn't hold for long, as sophomore
Brian Castillo headed in his first goal of the season just one minute later in the 29
th to bring the score back even at 1-1. Castillo was assisted by
Eduardo Rodriguez, his first of the season.
In the 45
th minute,
Nicklaus Sullivan scored his fourth goal of the season to give the Yotes a 2-1 lead. Sullivan was assisted by Castillo, who also recorded his first assist of the season.
The Yotes held the lead against the reigning national champions for 20 minutes, until the Golden Eagles managed to tie it up the 65
th minute. Neither team would score for the remainder of the game, finishing the match with an even 2-2 tie.

We have some great characters in this group of young men and everyday the student athletes are stepping up on and off the field to make sure we keep progressing. CSUSB recorded a season-high 18 shots in the game, with seven being on goal. Goalkeeper
Aiden Hanes recorded five saves for the Yotes, his fifth game of the season recording five or more saves. Hanes currently ranks sixth among CCAA goalkeepers with a .796 save percentage on the season.
