Yotes Sweep No. 24 CSULA in Front of Sellout Homecoming Crowd

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB women's volleyball team swept No. 24 Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd of 850-plus fans in The Den. With the crucial win against the first-place Golden Eagles, the No. 15 Yotes improve to 17-4 on the season with an 11-3 record in CCAA play. They're currently tied with Cal Poly Pomona for second place, but CSUSB holds the tiebreaker after their back-to-back wins against CPP earlier this month.

CSUSB celebrated Homecoming on Saturday, and the crowd did not disappoint. The Den reached maximum capacity, allowing for standing room only just before the match kicked off.

The Yotes' were firing on all cylinders against the Golden Eagles, collecting a team hitting percentage of .356 in the match. That is the team's fourth-best performance of the season. The leader of the pack, not surprisingly, was Lydia Morohunfola, who recorded 11 kills in 14 attempts for a .714 hitting percentage. That is just the second time the Eastvale native has recorded at least 10 kills with a hitting percentage over .700 in a match this season.

Ashley Robinson led the Yotes once again with 13 kills, bringing her team-leading season kill total to 214. That total places Robinson eighth in the CCAA in kills.

Marlee Nunley, Makena Overbey, and Asia Clarke kept many rallies alive for the Yotes, collectively recording 25 of the Yotes' 29 digs in the match. Libero Overbey also now ranks third in the conference with 4.27 digs per set on the season.

Nunley also recorded 31 assists in the match, the 11th time she has eclipsed 30 assists in a match this season.

The Yotes controlled the pace of the entire match, never once trailing by more than two points. All three sets ended in the same 25-21 score with the Yotes on top, allowing them to complete Homecoming 2022 with a crucial sweep.
