Yotes Close the Weekend Downing the Lumberjacks, 1-0

CSUSB took another CCAA win in Humboldt State, 1-0.

HUMBOLDT – The Yotes travelled to Humboldt State University to continue CCAA competition, downing the Lumberjacks, 1-0. CSUSB had a total of 10 wins and two losses against the Lumberjacks since 2007.

CSUSB would put the pressure on the Lumberjacks in the first half taking a total of six shots , four of them shots-on-goal. In the 32nd minute, Captain Francisco Sierra hit the first and only goal of the match. The Yotes would keep the lead for the remainder of the game.

Goalkeeper Juan Nieves ended the game with three saves. Defenders Andres Aguirre, Juan Larios, and Neil Gillies kept the Lumberjacks scoreless. Defenders Tony Di Donato and Rigo Aguilar assisted in keeping Humboldt State's scoreboard blank and were also each able to take a shot on goal.

"Today was a great test for the team. We saw some unique situations and the Yotes showed they were up for the test" said coach Josh Hill. "Our bench has been amazing this season and this weekend was no different. We leaned on a lot of new faces and it was great to see the group dig deep on the road. I am proud of the team."

The Yotes (4-2-1, 2-0-0 CCAA) next match is at 3pm this Friday, October 8th at Premier Field against San Francisco State University. Live stats will be available here. Streaming is available on ccaanetwork.com
