POMONA, Calif. - The Yotes were unable to connect on a goal attempt in Pomona against the Cal Poly Broncos who had been on a two-game win streak prior to this match. The Broncos defense kept the Yotes scoreless for the match and were able to hit two shots to seal the CCAA victory, 2-0.
CSUSB had a slow start in the first half offensively taking a total of two shots against the Broncos five shots. It was a start that would be hard to overcome for the Yotes as Cal Poly Pomona would score their two goals before the end of the first half. CSUSB were down heading into halftime, 2-0.
The second half the Yotes set the pace against the Broncos taking a total of 8 shots.
Jeronimo Valdepena finished the game with three shots, two of them shots-on-goal.
Coby Atkinson also tallied three shots on the game and
Gerardo Flores collected two shots.
This put the pressure on the Broncos who were swarmed by the Yotes defense, only squeezing in two shots of their own in the second half. Goalkeeper
Juan Nieves ended the match with two saves on the game. This would not be enough for CSUSB to overcome their deficient from the first half. Cal Poly Pomona took the win, 2-0.
The Yotes next match is at 2pm on Sunday, Oct. 17th on Premier Field against Cal State LA. Live stats will be available here. Streaming is available on ccaanetwork.com.
