POMONA, Calif - The Yotes fell in the first set to Cal Poly Pomona, but then went on to win three sets in row. CSUSB sealed another CCAA victory, tallying their record to 9-0.
In the first set the Yotes at one point held the lead by five points. It looked as though they had the match sealed until the Broncos came racing back to eventually take the lead and then win the set. Cal Poly Pomona would start the match with one set under their belt.
Going into the second set, the Yotes defense would force the Broncos into long rallies until Cal Poly Pomona could no longer keep pace. CSUSB collected 18 kills in the second set with a hitting percentage of .317. The Yotes took set number two, tying the score 1-1.
In the third set, the Broncos began to put the pressure on the Yotes defense as they took a total of 42 attack attempts. CSUSB's defense did not falter, as they kept Cal Poly Pomona's hitting percentage to a mere .143. Fourteen kills and two blocks would do it for the Yotes as they won set two brining the score to, 2-1.
By the fourth set, the Yotes found their stride and yet kept pushing the pace. Hitting at the best percentage of the match (.375), CSUSB took 32 attack attempts connecting for 16 kills. The Yotes sped away with their 9
th CCAA victory in a row, toppling the Broncos 3-1.
Alexis Cardoza matched her season high in kills with 19 on the game and had 13 digs.
Asia Clarke collected 13 kills and 15 digs.
Melissa Garciglia added 10 kills and
Jenna Patton tallied nine kills and three blocks on the game.
The Yotes (14-3, 9-0 CCAA) will replay Cal Poly Pomona at the Homecoming match in Coussoulis Arena this Saturday, October 16
