SAN BERNARDINO, Calif - The Yotes faced Sonoma State today who travelled to Premier Field with an overall record of 5-4-1. The match seemed to be even in tempo and defensive effort. It wouldn't be until overtime that
Coby Atkinson made a goal in the 94
th minute off of an assist by
Rigo Aguilar. CSUSB earned the win, 1-0.
CSUSB did put the pressure on the Seawolves in the first half taking six shots on the half. Sonoma State took a single shot in the first half but was able to keep the Yotes out of the net. Going into the half, the score was tied at 0-0.
The second half was very similar with the Yotes taking four shots, still not connecting with the net. CSUSB defense in

Rigo Aguilar,
Tony Di Donato,
Juan Larios, and
Neil Gillies kept the Seawolves to three shots in the second half. The game headed into overtime, score at 0-0.
It would take four minutes and a single shot for the Yotes to seal the victory. Aguilar was able to center the ball as Atkinson found his spot to hit the winning goal. Yotes end the weekend with a victory against Sonoma State, 1-0.
"Today was about our team and their perseverance" said coach
Josh Hill. "Sonoma was a good team and they gave us a lot to deal with, but when our team was asked to dig deep they did."
We are back on the road this week but we hope to carry this momentum into Thursday's match.
