BURNABY, Canada – The CSUSB Coyotes picked up a huge early season win on the road Saturday night, downing No. 13 Simon Fraser 1-0 and snapping their 33-match home unbeaten streak.
Pedro Arellano scored his second goal of the weekend just 1:18 in on an assist from Jesus Ortega. The Coyotes defense was fantastic, allowing just one shot on goal for Simon Fraser. Kevin Aguilar took two shots for the Yotes, one on frame. CSUSB even played the last 60 minutes a player down after a red card.
"We have had some pretty memorable evenings in the last few years but this one ranks pretty high," head coach Darren Leslie said. "Tonight was for everyone who has been a part of our journey the last four years and to our alumni and support staff back home. The level of effort and commitment from the team was first class and if they can apply themselves like that every game this season we have a chance of doing something special. The team is smart enough to know these two games don't mean anything if we don't push on, and I know we will be hungry to get back to work on Monday."
The Yotes will travel to Dominican on Thursday, September 19 for a 12 pm match.
