SAN RAFAEL – The No. 14 Coyotes tied at Dominican on Thursday afternoon, 2-2.
The Yotes went to half down 0-2, but thanks to a goal from Jonathan Garcia in the 51st minute and one from Tony Di Donato one minute later, got the tie. Jeronimo Valdapena assisted on Garcia's goal and Garcia and Andres Aguirre assisted on the second goal.
In overtime, Garcia missed high in the first period and Sergio Gonzalez had his shot saved in the second overtime. The Yotes dominated in shots, 27-8, and 14-5 in shots on goal.
"We gave ourself a mountain to climb after giving up two sloppy first half goals," head coach Darren Leslie said. "We tried to remain positive at half time because I felt we had enough quality about us to get back in the game. The second half response was exactly what we hoped for and after the two early goals, I thought we would go on and win the game, but it wasn't to be our day. Credit to Dominican, they had a game plan which they executed very well and over the course of the 90 minutes and OT, I think they deserved something from the game."
The Coyotes remain up north and will face Notre Dame de Namur at 1:30 pm on Saturday. Live links are on CSUSBathletics.com.
