SAN BERNARDINO – The No. 1 CSUSB Coyotes claimed the CCAA Regular-Season Championship on Friday night with a 3-0 win over CSU Monterey Bay.
The Yotes improved to 22-0 and hit .310 on the match. Alexis Cardoza remained unstoppable hitting .545 with 14 kills in 22 attempts. Stephanie Doak added 12 kills as the Yotes took the sets, 25-15, 25-17, and 25-18.
"Playing at home is so different, we love our atmosphere and it was great to be back," Doak said.
The Yotes led in blocks, 8-2, with Lydia Morohunfola, Doak, and Mikaela Grove each sending two back. Leilia To'omalatai had 14 digs to lead the Yotes who played their lone match this week. They return next Friday to face Chico State at 7 pm.
With the league title the Yotes clinched the top spot in the CCAA Tournament, which will be held at CSUSB, November 21-23.
