SAN BERNARDINO – The No. 1 CSUSB Coyotes are headed to the CCAA Championship Title Match tomorrow night, as they defeated CSU San Marcos 3-0 in the semifinals at home on Friday night.
It was a competitive match throughout, as CSUSB won 25-18, 26-24, and 25-19.
Alexis Cardoza led with 14 kills and
Jalyn Hayes added 10 hitting .833 with nine blocks.
Stephanie Doak had eight kills hitting .421. The Yotes hit .315 as a team and dominated at the net once again, 11 blocks to three.
Set two was especially impressive for the Yotes as the Cougars led throughout and had the home team on their heels. The Coyotes kept battling and finished the set on a 10-1 run fueled by blocks from Hayes as the home crowd exploded when the 26
th point was scored.
"We all trust each other completely," setter
Mehana Ma'a said about the second set. "When you have that kind of trust you can battle through and achieve results like that."
Ma'a was a catalyst all night with 21 assists and 14 digs.
On Saturday night the Yotes will face the second-seeded Cal State L.A. Golden Eagles as they chase their fourth-straigtht title and 15
