SAN RAMON, Calif. – The CCAA has announced the 2018 All-Conference teams and as expected, the No. 1 CSUSB Coyotes are well represented.
Jayann DeHoog was named the Setter of the Year and Alexis Cardoza was tabbed the Player of the Year. They were both First Team All-CCAA selections and were joined on that team by Hailey Jackson and Sascha Dominique. Leilia To'omalatai was selected Honorable Mention All-CCAA.
DeHoog will leave CSUSB as a four-time All-CCAA selection. This season she led the conference and was sixth nationally at 12.08 assists per set. She was a Hero Sports National Player of the Week and set a 2018 CCAA single-match high with 65 assists against UC San Diego. Her 4457 career assists are third all-time at CSUSB.
"This is a huge honor and something I have been striving for all four years," DeHoog said. "A true cherry on top of an unforgettable senior season."
Cardoza emerged this season as the best player in the conference, leading the CCAA and coming in sixth nationally at 4.61 kills per set. She added .38 aces per set, fourth in the conference. Cardoza was a two-time CCAA Player of the Week and recorded 11 double-doubles with 22 kills and 21 digs against Western Washington.
"Winning an award like this doing something I love is simply amazing, but also serves as a testament to my entire team because there are six of us out there on the floor at all times," Cardoza said.
Jackson is a three-time All-CCAA selection and is sixth in the conference in blocks per set at .94 and third in the nation, hitting .413. She has recorded double-digit assists on 11 different occasions this year and hit above .500 nine times. Her .368 career hitting percentage is fifth all-time at CSUSB.
Dominique is second in the nation hitting .426 on the season. She was a CCAA Player of the Week and her .85 blocks per set is 12th in the conference. She recorded double-digit kills on four occasions and hit above .500 10 times. Dominique and Jackson are the only two in the conference hitting over .400.
To'omalatia is a two-time All-CCAA selection and seventh in the conference in digs per set at 3.93. She had 15 or more digs 12 different times this year.
The Coyotes are the top seed in the CCAA Tournament starting tomorrow in Turlock, Calif. and face San Francisco State at 7:30 pm. Live links are available on csusbathetics.com.
