SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The No. 5 CSUSB Coyotes served 10 aces on Friday night and swept San Francisco State, 3-0, inside Coussoulis Arena.
Alexis Cardoza and Jayann DeHoog led the way with three aces each, but the middles led the way in kills with Hailey Jackson getting 11 and Sascha Dominique recording eight. Cardoza added seven in support while CSUSB hit .286 compared to .135 for SFSU. The Coyotes led in kills 43-27 and digs, 58-44.
CSUSB led 6-0 to start the match and 21-11 through the first set, winning 25-14. It was 5-1 Coyotes in set two, and that lead grew as big as 20-9, before CSUSB finished it 25-13. The final set was closer throughout, but a late spurt fueled by an ace from Leilia To'omalatai, who finished with 17 digs, saw CSUSB win 25-19.
"The extra practice we had last week was big for us," Hailey Jackson said. "We relit the fire this week and were ready to go tonight."
