HAYWARD, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes got out early at Cal State East Bay and never looked back in a 3-0 shutout win on Friday night.
Danny Ortiz started the scoring in the 17th minute and picked up two more assists before the night was through. He has now scored or assisted on 22 of the 30 CSUSB goals this season. His first goal was assisted by Jeronimo Valdapena and he, and Tony Di Donato, assisted Jair Magallan in the 39th minute. It became 3-0 late, as Valdapena scored from Ortiz in the 84th minute.
"Another difficult game on the road tonight that the guys had to dig deep for," CSUSB head coach Darren Leslie said. "I felt we could have done a better job managing the game in the second half, slowing the game down a little and keeping the ball a little better. With that said, another three goals, clean sheet, and a big three points on the road."
The Coyotes led in shots, 12-9, and shots on goal, 5-3. Jacob Huber made three saves in goal for the Coyotes, pitching his sixth shutout of the season.
The Coyotes will look for another three points on the road on Sunday morning at CSU Monterey Bay at 11:30 am. Live stats links are on csusbathletics.com.
