SAN BERNARDINO (Sept. 15, 2017) — CSULA's Steven Eberle scored his first goals of the season – both in the opening 23 minutes of play — and the Golden Eagles defeated the Coyotes 2-0 in the CCAA opener for both teams.

Ngo had an opportunity to break through the scoring column in the 57^th minute on a penalty kick, but CSULA's goalkeeper Steven Barrera came up with the save. Barrera had four saves for the shutout.

"If you give any team in the CCAA an early head start, it's always going to be an uphill struggle. That is even more true against a that is as disciplined and organized as CSULA. If we score from the penalty with 30 minutes left to play, then we fancy our chances of potentially sneaking a second and tying the game. It wasn't meant to be. You can't give a team like LA two soft goals and miss a PK and expect to get anything out of it. Time to regroup, make a few adjustments and get ready for another tough opponent in Dominguez Hills.
