Warriors take pair from Coyotes

TURLOCK (April 14, 2017) — The Coyotes faced an uphill struggle Friday, dropping a CCAA doubleheader against Stanislaus State in a 10-3 and 11-3 sweep.

The Coyotes (10-27, 8-18) hope to end its five-game conference losing streak in the series finale Saturday that begins at 11 a.m.

Game 1: Warriors 10, Coyotes 3
Lucas Martinez went 2 for 3 with two RBI, and Dominic Campeau, Dillon Fahr and Jordan Simon each had two hits.

The Warriors scored runs in all but the fifth and seventh innings. Stanislaus totaled 12 hits and took advantage of five walks and two hit batters.

Freshman Esteban Lizaola threw 4 1/3 innings of relief with two strikeouts. He gave up three runs — all unearned.

Game 2: Warriors 11, Coyotes 3
Designated hitter David Alonzo hit a two-run single in the fourth, and Austin Lundeen had the Coyotes' only extra-base hit — a double in the fourth.

Jon Ferrendelli (1-3) went six innings with six strikeouts. He walked three and allowed nine hits, seven runs (four earned).
