SAN BERNARDINO (March 4, 2017) — CSUSB came up short in its bid against visiting Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday, losing 7-3 and 3-2 in eight innings in CCAA baseball.
The Coyotes, now 3-13 overall and 3-5 CCAA, resume conference play Thursday when they play host to Cal State Dominguez Hills. First pitch at Fiscalini Field is 2 p.m.
Game 1: CPP 7, Coyotes 3
Tyler Van Marter led the Coyotes at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a run scored, and
Andrew Jurado doubled.
Daniel Pitts and Brennan McKenzie each homered for CPP.
Don Sullivan took the loss in 5 1/3 innings. He had three strikeouts.
Game 2: CPP 3, Coyotes 2 8 innings
Eli Zaragoza hit an RBI-double, then scored on a single by
A.J. Duran for a 2-1 Coyotes' lead in the second.
But CPP tied the game in the fourth, then went ahead for good in the eighth on Cody Martin's single to short.

Tyler Robles led the Coyotes at the plate with two hits. Zaragoza's double was CSUSB's only extra-base hit.
CPP improved to 11-8, 7-1.
