A Sweep feeling

LOS ANGELES (Oct. 7, 2017) — No. 23 CSUSB shined in its match against Cal State LA with an efficient, clean attack in CCAA volleyball Saturday night.

What the victory means
CSUSB improved to 11-6 overall and 7-2 in the CCAA and winners in its last two matches after a 25-15, 25-21, 25-20 victory. CSULA dropped to 8-7, 4-3.

Hailey's Comet
Junior MB Hailey Jackson came through with near perfection at the net, hitting .917 on 11 kills, no errors in 12 attacks as CSUSB hit ..371 (46-10-97). She also added three blocks assists.

A look at the stat sheet
CSUSB opened with an impressive .419 percentage, and wrapped up the night in the third set at .500 (18 kills, three errors).

Spreading the wealth
Thanks to junior setter Jayann DeHoog (22 assists) and Hannah Barrett (15), four Coyotes had six or more kills -- Jackson, Lauren Nicholson (10), Moira Murphy (8), and Sascha Dominique (6).

Can you dig it?
On the defensive end, freshmen Leilia To'omalatai and Alexis Cardoza each had 12 digs.

What's next
CSUSB remains on the road this week in the South Division with matches at Cal State San Marcos (Friday) and UC San Diego (Saturday).

Coach says
"We really did a nice job handling the ball in serve receive and served them very tough,'' head coach Kim Cherniss said. "Sascha and Hailey teamed up to be a very strong combination both on the attack and defending at the net. And Hailey had a gaudy percentage tonight.''
