CARSON (Sept. 23, 2016) — No. 13 CSUSB made sure upstart Cal State Dominguez Hills would not end one of the more impressive winning streaks in college volleyball as the Coyotes defeated the Toros 3-1 in CCAA play on Friday night.
Not since the 1992 season have the Coyotes lost to CSUDH. In fact, the last time was during the Clinton-Bush-Perot debates in October 1992 – now 47 matches in a row.
All-American
Malika O'Brien and junior OH
Lauren Nicholson led in kills with 14 each.
Hailey Jackson added eight in the 15-25, 25-11, 25-23, 26-24 victory.
The Coyotes (8-2 overall, 2-0 CCAA) did not help their cause in 25 attack errors. They had 10 in the first set in which they hit only .032 in the decisive loss.
But CSUSB gained control, hitting .286 in the second and holding the Toros to no better than .182 the remainder of the match.
O'Brien and sophomore S Jayann DeHog each had two service aces. DeHoog dealt 50 assists, and senior L
Abbey Vollkommer led in digs with a match-high 17.
The Coyotes complete the weekend at Cal State L.A. on Saturday.
CSUDH dropped to 3-8, 0-3.
