SAN BERNARDINO (Sept. 1, 2016) -- CSUSB's first-ever home soccer contest against a Canadian squad did not go the Coyotes' way in their 3-0 loss to Simon Fraser in the season opener for both clubs.
The Coyotes played large chunks of the contest on their defensive end as the visiting Clan out-shot CSUSB 14-3.
SFU's defenders were more than up to the task by not allowing one shot on goal for CSUSB.
SFU grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute on a boot from Pascal Schmidt, who fired a direct shot from 12 yards out that reached the far right end of the net against CSUSB's
Jacob Huber.
The Clan added two second-half goals from Adam Jones and Mamadi Camara.
Collecting the three shots for CSUSB was Dan Looker with two and
Enrique Garcia.
The Coyotes return to Coyote Premier Field on Saturday against Montana State-Billings. Kickoff is 4 p.m.
