SAN BERNARDINO (March 2, 2016) LeBaron Hollimon, who spent the 2015 season as the interim women's soccer head coach, has been named to the position, said Dr. Kevin Hatcher, assistant vice president for athletics and recreation Wednesday.

"Soccer is my life and passion,'' Hollimon said. "At the collegiate level, I have the opportunity of working with and teaching young people. I love CSUSB and am proud to call it my family. There isn't a better place for me.''

Hollimon served as an assistant men's coach in 2014, and became the interim women's head coach after Travis Clarke stepped down March 2015.

"LeBaron has ingratiated himself with our university in so many ways since coming on board,'' said Hatcher. "His knowledge and ability to coach women's soccer is a given, but his involvement within the department and on-campus is unparalleled. He's earned the right at being our full-time women's head coach.''

Hollimon, a Wichita, Kan., native, spent 2013 as an assistant women's coach at Hutchinson Community College and the previous two seasons as the head coach of the Wichita Wings, a member of the Major Indoor Soccer League.

One of the more acclaimed players in the state of Kansas, Hollimon played 10 seasons of professional soccer after graduating from Eastern Illinois University in 1991. He was named to the Kansas Soccer Hall of Fame in 2008.

In addition to playing, Hollimon also spent considerable time in the Wichita area coaching youth soccer.

"I'd like to thank Dr. Hatcher and (Vice President of Student Affairs) Dr. Brian Haynes and the search committee for their faith in me to build this program,'' Hollimon said. "I look forward to continuing the winning tradition and also expanding upon tradition.''

He holds a teaching certificate from Wichita State University and received his master's degree from Baker University. He also served as a middle school assistant principal in the Wichita school district.

He and his wife Annette are the parents of three children.
