Coyotes 12, Colorado Mesa 4 5 inningsThere is nothing like an 11-run lead before the opponent has a chance to hit, but that was the momentum builder that coach
Jim Maier received from his team in the rout over the Mavericks.
Sophomore
Kaylee Gemmell had three RBI in the inning – one on a bases-loaded walk and the others on a two-run single – and freshman
Morgan Ratliff had two singles in the 11-run, seven-hit inning that sent 17 Coyotes to the plate.
The Coyotes padded the lead to 12-0 in the second, thanks to Ratliff's run-scoring single up the middle that scored
Monica Maddox, who led off with a single.
Ratliff finished with three hits, while
Jessica Angulo and
Amanda Herrera each had two.
On the mound,
Cassandra Williams threw three innings and improved to 3-0. She had three strikeouts without a walk and scattered four hits.

Monica Maddox, who singled.
