Box Score OCEANSIDE (Feb. 20, 2016) -- The Coyotes led from beginning to end and rolled past host Cal State San Marcos 70-53 in CCAA women's basketball Saturday night.
CSUSB (13-10, 10-8 CCAA) won its third straight game, but more importantly secured a berth in the CCAA Tournament that begins March. The Coyotes guaranteed themselves no worse than a sixth seed and could finish as high as fourth.
Chelsea Austin continued her fine play as of late, leading the Coyotes with 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting with four 3-pointers.
Chelsea Barnes was right behind with 16 points, and
Brianna Harden had 14 points (3 of 3 threes). Each of the seven seniors pulled down seven rebounds.
The Coyotes tied a season high with nine 3-pointers and finished 52.9 percent from beyond the arc (9-17).
A LeeLee Owens' layup put the Coyotes up 25-14 with 6:57 remaining in the first half and CSUSB led by double digits the remainder of the game.
Austin gave the Coyotes their largest lead of the night, hitting a 3-pointer that put CSUSB up by 22 (53-31) with 6:46 left in the third.
Sophie Bhasin scored nine points with seven rebounds off the bench. Owens had sixth and
Adriana Brodie four.
Savannah Camp led the Cougars (6-17, 4-14) with 15 points. They finished just 33.9 percent on FGs.
