Cassandra Williams twirled a one-hitter with seven strikeouts in a 3-1 victory over San Francisco State in CCAA softball Saturday afternoon.
The Coyotes were defeated in the second game, 8-2.
CSUSB (8-7, 3-3 CCAA) and Gators (4-3, 1-1) resume their weekend series Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m.

Jessica Brown did the job at the plate, hitting a two-run home run in the fourth that turned into game-winning runs.
Brown supplied the Coyotes' first run on a fielder's choice that drove in
Morgan Ratliff (single) in the first.
SFSU then answered with a run of its own off Williams in the first, but that would be all the damage the Gators could muster off the Apple Valley native. She retire the side in order in four of her seven innings and no one advanced past second base after the opening inning.
The Coyotes totaled four hits with Ratliff going 2-for-3.
Caitlyn Olan added the other.
Game 2: SFSU 8, Coyotes 2Jessica Angula led the Coyotes at the plate with two hits, and Brown drove in the only run.
Melissa Roberts scored on a wild pitch in the sixth.

Taylor Ancona each had base hits for CSUSB.
