Box Score 2 SAN BERNARDINO (Feb. 10, 2016) -- The Coyotes had a difficult time with their pitching Wednesday afternoon, losing a pair of games to visiting Hawaii-Hilo 6-2 and 12-11 at Coyote Softball Park.
CSUSB (5-4 overall) opens CCAA play Friday and Saturday when it takes on Cal State East Bay.
Game 1: Hawaii-Hilo 6, Coyotes 2Sophomore
Caitlyn Olan led CSUSB at the plate, hoisting a 2-run home run for her team's only runs of the game.
Amanda Herrera had two of the Coyotes' five hits.
Jessica Angulo and
Kaylee Gemmell had the other hits.

UHH scored both of its runs in the second when runners reached base on walks. The Vulcans put the game out of reach wtih a four-run, five-hit sixth.
Game 2: Hawaii-Hilo 12, Coyotes 11Four of the Vulcans first seven runs were scored by reaching base on a walks. The Coyotes mounted two rallies late, but couldn't get over the top.
Trailing 9-2 entering the bottom of the fifth, the Coyotes scored five runs -- all earned.
Arianna Hernandez reached on a bunt, and
Caelan Smith hit a run-scoring double. Two batters later, Gemmell singled through the right side to score
Jessica Angulo.
Ashley Leffingwell had a RBI single, and
Taylor Ancona had an RBI single.
Leffingwell drew the Coyotes to within a run of the lead at 9-8 with a single to left that brought in
Amanda Fitzgerald in the sixth.
UHH padded the lead with three runs in the seventh to lead 12-8, but CSUSB rallied again in the seventh.
Angulo had a single to short for an RBI, and Smith added two more RBI on a single to left, but CSUSB could not get any further.
Angulo and Smith each had three hits, while Olan, Gemmell, Leffingwell and
Taylor Ancona all had two hits.
