SAN BERNARDINO (Oct. 7, 2016) — The ball has a way of finding
Diego Casillas when CSUSB needs a goal.
The senior, who scored the Coyotes' last goal 12 days ago on a penalty kick, found a way for another PK in Friday's 1-0 win against visiting Cal State East Bay at Coyote Premier Field. The victory puts CSUSB at 6-3-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the CCAA heading into Sunday's game at home against Stanislaus State.
Casillas held the ball on the right side of the net in the 53
rd minute. He was fouled inside and tight, and when given the opportunity for the one-on-one, he made the Pioneers pay with his team-leading fourth goal on the year.
CSUSB out-shot the Pioneers (5-6, 1-4) 16-10 and placed eight shots on goal.
Ivan Quintero led the Coyotes in shots (4) and
Marco Carrillo-Leon, Casillas and
Luca Falcone all had three apiece.
All four of Quintero's were SOG.
Freshman GK
Jacob Huber improved his record to 6-3-1 with his sixth shutout.
