TURLOCK (Sept. 30, 2016) — Junior Lauren Nicholson picked up the pace for No. 17 Cal State San Bernardino with a match-high 23 kills in the Coyotes' 3-2 win over host Stanislaus State on Friday night in CCAA volleyball.
 
The Coyotes, now 9-3 overall and 3-1 CCAA, complete the weekend tomorrow night at Chico State.
 
CSUSB was pushed in its 19-25, 25-21, 25-17, 11-25 15-13 win. In sets two and three, the Coyotes hit .324 and .484, respectively. But in the opener and fourth, hit .167 and .030.
 
Down 10-7 in the fifth, a Nicholson kill, a Warrior attack error and a kill from Kaili Scott tied the set at 10.
 
The set was tie three times before Nicholson again came through with a kill for a 14-13 lead. Then for good measure, she nailed another for the set and match win.
 
All-American Malika O'Brien had 11 kills and freshman Scott 10. Setter Jayann DeHoog produced 54 assists, and senior libero Abbey Vollkommer had 30 digs.
 
Stanislaus State (5-8, 2-2) was led by Blair Ehrlich with 19 kills.
