Box Score 2 AZUSA (Feb. 10, 2015) --
Cassandra Williams led offensively with two doubles and on the mound produced five strikeouts in a 7-inning complete game in CSUSB's 4-2 win over Azusa Pacific in nonconference softball Tuesday night.

The second game was delayed by approximately 25 minutes due to a light malfunction. APU won the contest 8-4.

CSUSB competes this weekend in the Desert Stinger Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev., and hosted by Montana State-Billings. They will five games – Cal State San Marcos, Simon Fraser, Minot State, Mary and Northwest Nazarene over three days beginning Friday.

Game 1: Coyotes 4, Azusa Pacific 2Â
The Coyotes manufactured 10 hits and three had multi-hit games in a game where they never trailed.

Williams led off the second inning with a double and came around to score four batters later when
Arianna Hernandez hit a two-out single. Teammate
Mary Menicucci, who singled to left, came around to score on the same play when an error was committed by the catcher.

After the Cougars got a run in the third, Williams got the run back on a one-out double to left center that scored
Alyssa Ramos, who led off with a double.

The score remained 3-2 until freshman
Kaylee Gemmell hit a one-out single to left center that scored
Nicole Nobbe.

Nobbe, Ramos and Williams all had two hits.

Meanwhile, Williams scattered nine hits, but just one of the two APU runs was earned. She had just one walk.

Game 2: APU 8, Coyotes 4Â
Nobbe led the Coyotes (3-3) with two hits and Hernandez drove in two runs, but APU was too strong with all eight of its runs scored in the first two innings.

Sona Babayan had five RBI for the Cougars (2-2) – a three run homer in the first and a two-run shot in the second.
Â
Hernandez had a two-run single that keyed a three-run fourth inning for the Coyotes.
Â
Ashley Leffingwell and Williams accounted for the other RBI.
