30 for 30 Josh Brown

During the 30th anniversary of Coyote Athletics, 30 former student-athletes will be featured here at www.csusbathletics.com.

Josh played four years of soccer (1996-00) for the Coyotes and earned All-CCAA honors in 2000. The Temecula native was recruited by Carlos Juarez, who as head coach set the tone for the Coyotes program with an NCAA D3 tournament appearance in 1987 and winning the program's only CCAA title in 1991. Brown earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology in 2001 and just completed his ninth season as head coach at San Bernardino Valley College and has taught at San Gorgonio HS for the last 13 years. Josh and his wife, former Coyote soccer player Natalie Navarro, are the parents of two daughters — Madeline and Tess — and make their home in Beaumont.

On remaining in touch with CSUSB and men's soccer
"I know when I've had some of my guys go on to play at CSUSB, they feel comfortable with the school. CSUSB has a solid tradition of athletics and over the last eight years, the soccer program has had good talent. I think Steve (Ralos) is a good fit, and the relationship that we have with his program is very good. I look forward to continuing it.''

Why CSUSB was a good fit
"My aspirations were to become a teacher and I wanted to coach. It was a great training ground for education, and especially kinesiology. Things fell into place in my career by starting at CSUSB.''
