Box Score SAN BERNARDINO (Jan. 3, 2015) – The final four minutes of Saturday night's game did not go the Coyotes' way in their 62-53 loss to visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills in CCAA women's basketball at Coussoulis Arena.
Junior
Brianna Harden led the way for the Coyotes with another double-double. The Los Banos scored 16 points with 12 rebounds for her seventh double-double on the season. No other Coyote reached double figures with junior
Adriana Brodie scoring nine,
Alexcia Mack with eight and junior
Chelsea Barnes seven.
This was a hard-luck loss for coach
Renee Jimenez's team, which played well in the second half except down the stretch.
On three occasions inside the final 10 minutes, CSUSB held a six-point lead with the latest on a Mack layup that put the Coyotes up 48-42 with 6:56 left.
The Toros answered that deficit with a 6-0 run of their own over the next 90 seconds and each team traded the lead once before Brodie hit a pair of free throws that put the Coyotes ahead 52-51 with 3:56 left.
Monay Lee scored on a three-point play and teammate Talia Rayford scored inside that put CSUDH ahead 56-52. Another Rayford layup padded the lead to six before
Chelsea Barnes stopped the run on a free throw that cut the deficit to 58-53 with 56 seconds left.
But that would end the Coyotes' scoring as they missed on their final six shots from the field in that critical span.
The Toros (10-4, 5-1 CCAA) outscored the Coyotes 16-7 from the line to offset their 4-of-23 effort on threes.
Rayford scored a game-high 24 points and Lee had 11. Kielyn Wilson was the only other Toro to hit double figures with 10.
CSUSB (7-3, 3-3) returns to the road on Friday when it faces Cal State Stanislaus.
