Box Score SAN BERNARDINO (Jan. 29, 2015) – Once the Coyotes found their way on the offensive end, their game against visiting San Francisco State became a one-sided 80-53 victory at Coussoulis Arena in CCAA play Thursday night.
The Coyotes, led by junior
Brianna Harden's 18 points and 15 rebounds, fired 53.1 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes on 53 percent field goals to improve to 13-4 overall and 9-4 in the CCAA. Harden's double-double was her 10
th on the year, the best in the CCAA.
Her ability on the glass also factored as CSUSB dominated on the glass, 58-21.
CSUSB didn't get its offensive flow intact until late in the first half. Down by 10 with 15:34 to go, the Coyotes whittled the lead and got it when
Alexcia Mack hit a jumper to pull her team out front 25-23 with 5 minutes left.
After SFSU tied the game for the last time on a jumper by Jayzyl Tauala,
Chelsea Austin put the Coyotes ahead for good on a 3-pointer and they led 28-25 with 4:07 left.
An 11-2 run by the Coyotes put them ahead by double digits for the rest of the game.
This was a balanced effort by coach
Renee Jimenez's team with all nine players dressed appearing in the scoring column. Mack had 13 with seven rebounds and six assists and Austin had 12 on four 3-pointers off the bench with eight rebounds.
Junior
Adriana Brodie had 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting with seven rebounds and four assists.
The Coyotes outscored the Gators 22-0 on second-chance shots, 34-8 in the paint and received 30 points from their bench. CSUSB led by as many as 31 with 63 seconds left; their largest lead in a game this season.
Freshman
Leelee Owens scored her first points of the season and went on to score nine in 14 minutes. Fellow freshman
Loli Gomez followed suit with six.
The Gators, who fell to 0-17, 0-13, was led by Michelle Sutton's 13 points. She also had six assists.
CSUSB returns to Coussoulis Arena on Saturday when it faces Sonoma State.
