Coyotes possess offensive strength against Otters

Box Score
SAN BERNARDINO (Jan. 15, 2015) – Season highs were all across the board Thursday night for the Coyotes , who routed visiting Cal State Monterey Bay 75-53 in CCAA women's basketball at Coussoulis Arena.

The Coyotes broke the 50-percent level from the field for the first time this season and were led by junior Briana Harden's game-high 18 points. Four Coyotes scored in double figures and were the big reason why the Coyotes registered a season-best scoring output in CCAA play.

All-CCAA guard Alexcia Mack had 13, Adriana Brodie 12 and Chelsea Austin 11 off the bench for CSUSB, now 10-3 overall and 6-3 CCAA.

The Coyotes never trailed with just one tie and grabbed control with double-digit leads for most of the final 30 minutes of play in their most decisive victory of the campaign.

Leading 42-34 with 17:54 left in the game, six different Coyotes contributed during their 23-5 run over 10-plus minutes. Harden capped the run with a 3-pointer that put CSUSB up 65-39 with 7:31 left.

That 26-point lead marked the largest lead the Coyotes have had this season, surpassing a 25-point lead in their 18-point win at Sonoma State in December.

The Coyotes finished 51 percent from the floor on 26 of 51 from the floor, but were just 17 of 28 from the free throw line.

Harden's output was the 10th time she scored in double figures. She had seven rebounds – all on the defensive end.

Junior Chelsea Barnes had eight points with 11 rebounds – her second double-figure effort on the boards for the year.

Defensively, CSUSB held the Otters to only nine field goals in the second half and a 30 percent FG effort on 21 of 70 shots.

Jenna Bandy led the Otters (3-9, 1-8) with 13 points.

The Coyotes complete the weekend against Cal State East Bay on Saturday.
