Coyotes swept by No. 3 Otters

Nicole Nobbe added to her school record single-season doubles record with No. 22.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SEASIDE -- CSUSB finished its regular season with a doubleheader sweep against No. 3 Cal State Monterey, losing 3-0 and 2-1 on Saturday.

The Coyotes (29-24 overall, 16-19 CCAA), who are ranked eighth in this week's NCAA West Region, will now wait for the NCAA annoucement that takes place Monday, May 5.

Game 1: CSUMB 3, Coyotes 0

Tiffany McIntosh and Melissa Roberts had a pair of singles against the Otters, but that was it as Otters' right-hander Cori Reinhart shu tout the Coyotes with two strikeouts.

Cassandra Williams kept the Coyotes in the game, throwing six innings and striking out two and allowing just five hits.

Game 2; CSUMB 2, Coyotes 1

Nicole Nobbe added to her single-season record with 22nd double and finished the regular season hitting .500 -- the first for a Coyotes since becoming a Division II member 23 years ago.

The Coyotes grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first when Thalia Ortiz led off the game with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Alyssa Ramos, then scored on Nobbe's double to left.

But the Coyotes got just four hits off the Otters and were retired in order over their last 10 batters.

Reinhardt drove in the game-winning runs with a two-run double to left center in the fifth.

Stephanie Luhman took the loss in six innings. She had four strikeouts and scattered eight hits.

Victoria Lievanos had a double for the Coyotes in the fourth.
