Coyotes trail early in 13-5 loss to CSULA

Series finishes in Los Angeles Saturday

SAN BERNARDINO -- The Coyotes trailed early in their game Friday against Cal State L.A. and lost 13-5 in CCAA play at Fiscalini Field.

CSUSB (9-19, 7-11 CCAA) trailed 10-0 entering its half of the fourth inning after allowing five runs with three errors in the CSULA fourth.

Four of the five runs in the pivotal fourth were unearned.

Nolan Almodovar got the Coyotes' first hit of the game to lead off the fourth and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Nick Oddo.

CSUSB scored three runs in the eighth with Remington Miller and Aaron Beckley securing RBI, on a single and sacrifice fly, respectively.

The Coyotes scored their final run in the ninth when William Oullette scored when Nick Massari's high fly ball to right was dropped.

Almodovar, Oullette and Brian Lockey all had two hits.

Reliever Taylor Valentine threw three innings and had three strikeouts with just one walk and one hit.

The series now turns to Los Angeles in a Saturday doubleheader that begins at 12 p.m.
