SAN BERNARDINO -- One swing of the bat was the difference maker for the Coyotes and Tiffany McIntosh, who crushed a lead-off, opposite-field shot to right for a 3-2 eight-inning victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills.

CSUSB kept the momentum going in the second game, winning 8-0 in five innings.

The Coyotes now take a 16-9 overall record and 10-6 CCAA slate into Friday's doubleheader against visiting UC San Diego.

Game 1: Coyotes 3, Cal State Dominguez Hills 2 8 innings

CSUSB made quick work of the first inning, scoring two runs on two hits, but that was all the offense the Coyotes could produce until McIntosh.

McIntosh delivered a one-out, run-scoring single that brought in Alyssa Ramos. Three batters later, Mary Menicucci walked with the bases loaded.

CSUDH answered with two unearned runs -- one in the fourth and the other in the fifth to tie the game at 2-2.

The Coyotes' Na'Tavia Lee made the defensive play of the game in the eighth inning with the Toros threatening to take the lead.

Analisa Nicholson came through with a two-out single to right and two on base. Pinch-runner Carly Mitchell tried to score from second, but Lee delivered a strike from shallow right to catcher McIntosh that got to the plate, where Mitchell was at least two strides from home plate.

That set the tone for McIntosh, who sent a towering shot that appeared to go out at right center, then drifted over right in a game that produced wind gusts of 20 MPH.

Cassandra Williams earned the win in eight innings. She had seven strikeouts, walked only two and gave up six hits.

Game 2: Coyotes 8, Cal State Dominguez Hills 0 5 innings

Victoria Lievanos had two hits with a two-run double and the Coyotes secured the sweep.

The Coyotes scored five runs on three hits and sent 10 batters to the plate for control of the game.

Up 1-0, McIntosh walked with the bases loaded and Lievanos sent her double to left for a 4-0 lead. One batter later, Williams singled to left to bring in Brittany Resendez, who pinch-ran for McIntosh.

Ramos added a RBI in the fourth on a fielder's choice, before the Coyotes struck with two runs in the fifth for the win.

Darian Manuz scored on a wild pitch, and Thalia Ortiz ended the game with a smash to the pitcher, allowing Williams to score.

Stephanie Luhman (7-4) struck out four, walked one and gave up seven hits for the shutout.
