Coyotes enjoy split Saturday

CSUSB comes back in 6-5 win over Western Oregon

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Coyotes came away with a split in their games Saturday, handed a 10-7 loss to Central Washington and coming back in a 6-5 win over Western Oregon.

CSUSB, now 4-1 overall, completes its Las Vegas weekend with games Sunday against Dixie State and the University of Mary.

Central Washington 10, Coyotes 7

Tiffany McIntosh homered and three of her teammates had mutliple hits and RBI, but the Wildcats struck with a five-run fourth and came back for the victory.

After CWU climbed ahead 6-4 after its five-run fourth, the Coyotes answered on Nicole Nobbe's two-run double that tied the game at 6-6.

But the Wildcats with one run in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Nobbe, McIntosh and Cassandra Williams all had two hits. Nobbe, Williams and Victoria Lievanos had two RBI each.

Williams took the loss in relief of Stephanie Luhman, who threw three innings.

Coyotes 6, Western Oregon 5

The Coyotes won a strange game in which they held the visiting Wolves to just one hit, but committed four errors.

Three of the four errors occurred in the fourth inning that led to five unearned runs for WOU.

CSUSB trailed 5-2, before it got back on track in the sixth. The Coyotes scored four runs on four hits -- wiht McIntosh delivering a three-run homer and Williams immediately followed with a solo shot.

McIntosh finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and Nobbe, Lievanos and Mary Menicucci all had two hits. Lievanos and Williams also homered.

Williams earned the win in relief. She threw three no-hit innings of relief.
